News > How to get Walkable Off the Strip - The District at Green Valley
One of the most desirable aspects of urban life is walkability: the tangible sense that everything a resident needs is within easy walking distance. Suburban developments also offer many positives, such as great amenities, security and ample parking. And it's with those things in mind that more developers are looking for opportunities to create communities that combine the best of both worlds.
The District at Green Valley is the perfect example of one such development, a self-contained community, which combines restaurants, shopping AND condominiums that give residents that walkability that they are looking for outside of the more crowded strip area.
The District at Green Valley is located in Henderson, a popular suburb of Las Vegas. It's also part of the planned community of Green Valley. The condo development offers contemporary lofts and flats built above restaurant and boutique spaces, like you would find in a typical neighborhood in, say, Brooklyn or San Francisco. The shops and homes are constructed along a pedestrian promenade, or Main Street, which is landscaped with trees and benches, giving the entire community a feeling that it is a city within a city.
Residents of The District at Green Valley can simply roll out of bed and enjoy a great brunch or a cup of coffee and a pastry at one of the bistros along the promenade, like Panera Bread. They can walk to the Whole Foods to do their grocery shopping. Or they can spend the day browsing boutiques like Anthropologie and West Elm then enjoy some seafood at King's Fish House without ever having to start the car.
When they do need to drive somewhere, residents enjoy secure, deeded parking, something it can be difficult to find in the densely populated urban neighborhoods that serve as the inspiration for this community.
The District at Green Valley also features great amenities, such as rooftop decks with stunning views of the Las Vegas Valley and the surrounding mountains. And residents also enjoy access to the pools at the Green Valley Ranch Resort.
The District at Green Valley is the brainchild of the developers at the American Nevada Company, headed by Hank and Barbara Greenspun, two Las Vegas natives responsible for many of the city's high-quality master planned communities, such as Seven Hills and Aliante.
The homes at The District at Green Valley are spacious and modern, with high ceilings, designer finishes, chef's kitchens and elegant master suites. And with nearly 60 commercial tenants and more than a dozen professional offices operating there, the retail and lifestyle options available to residents are tremendous.
Buyers looking for a more traditional setting while still being close to all these great amenities have other great options in the Green Valley area. For example, just across the street from The District, Bella Vista condominiums is a gated community that is generally less expensive than the District condos, with a pool and a clubhouse. It's still an easy walk to all the District fun.
