The New Frontier Hotel Comes Tumbling Down!
On Nov. 13, 2007 the New Frontier Hotel was imploded, bringing the 16 story hotel down to make room for the New York's famous Plaza Hotel scheduled to open in 2011.
First opened in 1942 under the name Last Frontier, then later renamed to the New Frontier, this Las Vegas hotel made history as the first themed hotel and casino in Vegas, the second hotel on the strip, and hosting Elvis' first Las Vegas performance.
