You've probably all seen the diamond shaped "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign welcoming people to the area. Now, nearly fifty years later, it's almost considered an official landmark in Las Vegas. Created by Betty Willis, a Las Vegas native, in 1959, at a time when men dominated the commercial art field.

As of December 2007, according to the Census Bureau, Nevada is the fastest growing state in the nation, with a population of 2.56 million, a 2.9% growth rate (approximately 73,000 new residents). Clark County claims over 70% of Nevada’s population. Neighboring Arizona follows in second place for fastest growth.

Fremont Street (the Downtown area), 2nd most popular street in Las Vegas after the Strip, is affectionately nicknamed Glitter Gulch.

Looking for a career in healthcare? The University Medical Center (UMC), located in southern Nevada, has recently been placed on the list of best places to work in the government category by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association.

Inc. Magazine named Las Vegas the "Hottest Large City" for 2006 noting "the number of entertainment and tourism jobs has surged 14.2 percent since 2002, and growth is even more impressive in financial and professional services."

Newsweek Magazine's international edition writes, "the city is increasingly drawing spinoff industries in high tech, finance and manufacturing."
